Edible Snow Globe Place Settings

Christmas Dinner is going to be special this year. My mom will be joining us. My father-in-law will be driving down from North Georgia, and my youngest daughter will be there too!  So it is a time for family and a time to enjoy each others company.

We are planning a nice dinner using the fine china and the fancy tablecloth. And I decided we each need place markers at the table. My husband is a bit confused about this as he has that logical mind that most men seem to have. “We know each other’s names”, he said.

Yes, but I want something cute on the table. Formal is nice, but we are anything but a formal family. Besides, it gives me another craft project to do. And you know how I like me some crafts.

For this project I used:

Store-bought chocolate chip cookies (Two packages- because the daughter ate the first one).
Christmas Reese Cups
Foil covered Christmas chocolates
Keebler Chocolate covered Grahams
Peppermints
White Cake Icing
White, Yellow and Chocolate Decorator Icing
Fancy sprinkles
Clear plastic cups

I started by spreading a nice layer of white cake icing on each cookie.

Using the yellow decorator icing, I then piped out some stars on foil. These will need to dry for a few hours before you can peel them off and use them. I love the decorator icing that you can buy- already in a tube and ready to pipe. The lazy one in me is overjoyed by this.

Separate the green wrapped Reese Cups from the other colors and create trees by stacking them. Put a large dab of chocolate decorator icing between each one to stabilize them. As for the other colored Reese Cups, well they will have to be disposed of in some way or another. I’m not going to go mention how mine were “disposed of”.

Let’s just say, they didn’t make it to the candy dish…

Put a little foil covered chocolate figure on each one. I got this set of six from the Dollar Store. You know, I’m there so often that they know me by name…

Add some fancy sprinkles for a bit of color in the snow.  Place the yellow stars on the tops of the trees, gluing them down with decorator icing. And then add a little peppermint “fence”.

Add more icing around the edges of the cookie, and placed the clear plastic cups over them. The icing will harden and hold the cup down.  Draw on the names of your guests with white icing onto the chocolate cookies.  Use decorator icing to attach the cookie name tags to the tops of the cups.

And there you have it. Edible Snow globe place setting name tags. Well, you can’t eat the cup, but I figure the rest of it is up for grabs.
