Our guest the week is from Oregon, USA

Today, we are welcoming Mimi from Living in France!  Contrary to her bloggy title, Mimi does not live in France.  She is actually a resident of the great state of Oregon!  Either way, she still has quite a journey to get here.  Seems that the south is not really close to anything!  Mimi is a writer/crafter.  I put it that way because while she does amazing crafts, her humorous writings are the main focus of her blog.  It is certain that she will put a smile in your day.

In her honor, my buddy, Tom Selleck and his mustache decided to set up the Monopoly game, make some snackies and invite a few of his friends over.  He invited Brad Pitt, The Situation and Simon Cowell. I’m not quite sure if my Green Room can hold that much ego, but I guess we’ll soon find out. Unfortunately, Brad is babysitting so he had to bring all of his kids and they are currently eating all the cheese doodles and touching the walls with their orange fingers.

The Situation and Simon both got into an ego match right away and have pulled off their shirts. Which I may have to put a stop to as I’ve seen enough of the Situation’s abs to last me a lifetime, and then there is Simon. Well, lets just say that the Seinfeld episode involving the “Manzier” applies. I think I’m going blind…

Brad called Angie and asked permission to take off his shirt, but was apparently told no. Which I’m sorry about because that certainly might have made my day. And totally would have made up for all the orange fingerprints.

So while the Monopoly/ego game continues, lets take a few moments to talk to Mimi!

Suzy:  So, tell me a little bit about yourself, your family, your hobbies…
Mimi: I’m a SAHM of two boys, ages 8 and 6. I absolutely love being a mommy and feel blessed to have such great kids. <— blech, don’t you hate when people say that? But it’s true, so I’ll stick with it!  I’ve been married to my highschool sweetheart for 13 years.  I love to read, watch movies, craft and people watch! Don’t you love to people watch? It’s hilarious!
Suzy: You bet!  Wal-Mart is pretty awesome around 11:00 at night.  Just saying.

Suzy: When did you start blogging and where would you like your blogging to take you?
Mimi: I started blogging in 2009 and never imagined the people I would meet along the way. I have made some of my best friends through blogging. I’ve been able to meet up with a few of them and now we are friends in real life!  I would obviously love if my blog could generate some sort of income. As a stay at home mom I don’t bring any money to the table which can be difficult, so I think doing something I love (blogging) and making a little money from it would be awesome. Didn’t I just describe what everyone wants? To do something you love and get paid for it. That’s rare!

Suzy: I love your sense of humor!  Your Friday Confessionals are hilarious!  Can you tell us a bit about that?
Mimi: I’ve always had a sense of humor…I can’t remember a time where I wasn’t trying to find the humor in something. And seriously, the stuff that I get myself into or I find that happens to me is just too priceless not to share. Partly because I know it will give someone a chuckle and everyone needs a little laugh every day and partly because so many bloggers can commiserate with me and I don’t feel so alone. Or freaky. Ha!

Suzy: Can you tell us a few things that most folks don’t know about you?
Mimi: I really can’t think of anything that most folks don’t know about me…I seem to share it all on the blog. There are some intensely personal things that of course I don’t share, but everything else is fair game. Embarrassing? I’ll tell ya. Ridiculous? Bring it on. Shameful? Yep, I’ll dish.  Things I don’t like to talk about are the serious things…I’m diagnosed with MS and OCD. A lot of people don’t know that because I rarely talk about it.

Suzy: Tell us a bit about the title of your blog.  How did you come up with it?  Who is the Cursing Crafter?
Mimi: The title of my blog is a play on my name. If you google my real name it will bring up a city and country and that’s just hilarious to me! And of course I don’t live in France for real. I’ve said it before but I’m pretty sure they would not want me!

Mimi: Cursing Crafter is something my friend came up with one day. We were talking about a project I was working on and I told her that I hadn’t cussed so much in forever. Then I explained that pretty much every time I make something there are some naughty words involved. Either because I hurt myself (stepping on a rusty nail, burning myself, bruises and cuts just to name a few) or because it’s a more difficult project than I imagine. I usually rate my crafts then…SCC = Single Curse Craft. It means that it was an easy one and maybe I only dropped one minor cuss word.

Mimi: Trust me, you do not want to be an innocent by-stander when I’m refinishing furniture! Or you might bring earplugs anyway.

Suzy: What other blogs inspire you?
Mimi:  Ones that are particularly crafty that I love to visit are Tatertots and JelloBacon Time, and The V Spot. All these blogs have different kinds of crafty things and I am sort of eclectic in my crafty tastes, so I like the many different ideas! But really what I love most about these blogs is the fabulous women behind them. I can honestly say that every single one of them is just so sweet and helpful. I count them among some great bloggy friends!

Suzy:  Is there anything special that you are promoting right now?
Mimi: Recently I introduced some new products in my Etsy shop that I absolutely love!! I love bags. I love ruffles. So. RUFFLED BAGS!!!  This is one that I especially love for Spring! I’m thinking this would be a great Easter and/or Mother’s Day gift!
Suzy:  Thanks so much, Mimi for taking the time to come all the way out here!  Please take a few moments and check out Mimi’s site, Living in France.  I’m betting that it totally puts a smile in your day!

Well apparently, Angie has called and ordered Brad to get home, so the monopoly game is breaking up. Brad is in trouble for not making her hair appointment and needs to pick up a gallon of milk, two boxes of diapers and a case of vodka on the way home. He’s kind of in a flurry to get out of here, as Angie has gone window shopping at Kate Gosselin’s house and he is terribly afraid that she might come home with more kids.

Looks like Simon might have won the game. He gave The Situation a hand mirror and promptly stole Boardwalk and Park Place. The Situation hasn’t noticed yet. I would congratulate Simon, but last time I spoke with him, he felt the need to judge my outfit, which started out with, “I’m not being rude but…”

I still haven’t recovered.
