2012 Photography Challenge- Self Portraits

Self portrait/Suzys Artsy Craftsy Sitcom

Our challenge this week is to come up with a self portrait.  So, I thought about it a bit.  I have a ton of photos of myself crafting away.  And that is surely what you expected here.  But, I wanted to show you the side of myself that isn’t always up front and center on my blog.  My husband and I love the outdoors and particularly love the winters in the Northwest. In fact, most of our vacations are taken in the winter in thirty degree below zero weather like the photo above.  Well, actually I think it had warmed up to zero when this photo was taken- hence the open jacket.  Ha!

We are currently three years into our five year plan.  And when we succeed, we will be living in a RV and traveling the country and spending lots of time in the snowy weather.  And I will be the traveling crafter.  Because some things just never change.

So how did you do?

Email your self portrait submissions to me!  Check out the Submission Guidelines.  I will post your photos here along with any information that you would like to include.  If you have a website, feel free to add a link to your site!  I will be taking self portrait submissions all week!  Feel free to send your original photo also!

Our theme for next week is “Fall”.  See the information at the bottom of the post for details!

This Week’s Submissions

This is a photo of my daughter’s cat Grace and myself. Grace is not a fan of being held. My daughter thinks it is funny that Grace allows me to pick her up and love her. Cats and kids are the joy of my life, especially my Grandchildren. ~Brenda Williams- Weatherford, OK – Cats, Kids and Crafts

This is me doing my new-found hobby. Well, it’s been two years now since I first got into a kayak. It’s immensely addictive! Once I mastered some skills to enjoy white water it became my favourite outdoor activity. Yes, even in Winter. I just have come back from a 2nd level Alpine ski instructor course. However, am longing for the bubbly water…I will see what will take over in the coming Winter season 😀  I also paddle canoes. And I have progressed to beeing a 2nd level coch for paddlesports. I very much enjoy beeing outdoors – whatever the weather. I’d like to teach people to enjoy activities that engage with what nature has on offer. I started to go climbing and past a cycle leader course last year, too. So, my dream would be to teach outdoor activity combined with creating crafty stuff~ Nicole from Cotswolds, England- Sweet Candy Corner

First of all Mary and I are thrilled to be sponsors of your green contest. We are true believers in recycling in crafting also. I noticed you didn’t get many self portraits so thought I would send you this one. Mary sent me the glasses for my birthday so being game for about anything I put them on and started clicking away. You do know how hard it is to take your own picture holding the camera out in front of yourself don’t you? There wasn’t anything to use as a tripod where I was at the time. ~Annie– http://craftingtales.com

I thought I’d share my self portrait, which also includes my sweet chicken Pagan. She was an Angel:) Birds are so much more than they appear! Goodnight from Southern Oregon, ~Lisette

 Next Weeks Theme- Fall!

One of my favorite times of the year!  What photo can you come up with that best represents the change of season?  You could go with fall leaves, pumpkins, Halloween, acorns, well whatever fall means to you.  Need a few examples?

See you back next week!

You and Nicole have really beautiful photos. My idea of the great outdoors is the Holiday Inn with the door cracked open:) Guess I burned my self out when I was younger…we went camping nearly every weekend. I do think it is awesome that you are making such great plans for your future. I wish you the best of luck.
