Create with Crochet- Fun Patterns by Celina Lane!

On Daily Holiday Blog, I like to feature Etsy artists and crafters who create unique, quality products.  Recently, I featured a great crocheted Hat with Beard Pattern by Celina Lane of Simply Collectible, that my readers just loved.  The fun thing about Celina’s shop is that she creates and sells fun patterns that can be completed in a short time with basic crochet techniques.  And they are so fun to look at!

Celena creates for multiple reasons, but the main reason is to help with her son’s education.  I spoke with Celena and wanted to share her story with you.

Celena says, “Creating fun designs is a dream and takes tons of blood, sweat and tears. It’s my pleasure to do this to raise money for my son’s education and therapies. Basically, I crochet fun, unique custom items and sell the patterns. My son is 7 years old and does not fit in with the public school system as he is on an average writing level while excelling in math, science and reading up to a grade 4 level. In his spare time, he teaches himself Japanese and is learning alphabets in Greek and Russian. We’ve recently enrolled him in Kung Fu and Cub Scouts per his request”.

“Intervention has been crucial. Our main focuses are his speech delay and sensory overload/ sensory deprivation and the consistent introduction of new activities has emptied our pocketbooks while filling his mind and heart”.

“So… I create”.

“Designing protects my mind. I am self-diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome as is my husband. We are very typical in that sense and no other sense. Do you find that as hysterical as I do”?

“I do everything in my shop: design, list, market, shop, ship, package, sew, steam, press, photograph (sometimes getting an amazing capture)…. but before all that, I homeschool my son and attempt to keep our humble home in order”.
