Easy DIY Pirate Ghost and Pumpkins!

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Cottonelle, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #CottonelleTarget  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

You know I love a challenge.  The folks at Cottonelle asked me to take their Triple Roll 12 pack and create a Halloween Decoration.  After some thought, I decided a Pirate Ghost was definitely the plan.  And to give him a bit of booty, because after all, every pirate needs some booty,  I made him a treasure of toilet paper pumpkins!

Halloween party coming up?  This fun decoration goes together quickly and is a perfect accent for your bathroom.  Your guests will love it!  Want to know how to make it?

For this project I used:

Cottonelle Triple Roll Toilet Paper
2 Dollar Store Halloween Plastic Table Cloths
1 plastic Halloween bucket
Felt in Black and Purple
1 Dried Gourd
1 vase (for ghost body)
hot glue
toilet paper tubes

Let’s make the pumpkins first!  I found two different Halloween plastic tablecloths at the dollar store.  One is plain orange, the other has polka dots.  Cut roughly and 18″ square of table cloth.  Place the toilet roll in the center and push the edges of the tablecloth into the center of the roll.

Take a toilet paper tube and twist it, pushing the end into the center of the toilet roll to create a stem.  I made three polka dot pumpkins and 2 orange pumpkins.

I used a plastic Halloween bucket to place all the pumpkins in.  Official pirate booty!

For the pirate ghost, I created a form using a vase and a dried gourd.  I chose to have the gourd simply sit on the vase because it would really be cool to put some glow sticks in that vase right before the party starts.  Using hot glue, I began gluing strips of toilet paper over top of the gourd, overlapping them until the vase and gourd are no longer visible.

Tie a couple toilet paper strips around the neck of the ghost, and then create a bow with a long strip.  This toilet paper is very thick and easy to work with, but putting together the bow was a gentle process.  Hot glue the bow in place.  Create a cute pirate hat with a 8″ wide by 24″ long strip of plastic table cloth.  Tie and knot the two ends together and drape it over the head forming a hat.  Hot glue in place.

Cut out an eye and an eyepatch out of felt.  Glue in place, tucking the ends of the eye patch under the hat.

Tear off three strips of toilet paper, approximately 3 feet long.  Anchor the ends under a heavy object and braid.  Once it is all braided, clip in the center to create two shorter braids.  Tie one end of each with a strip of tablecloth.  Glue the other end underneath the edge of the hat.  I created 6 braids this way; three on each side of his head.
