Create something fun with liquid chalk markers!

Have you ever worked with Liquid Chalk Markers?  I created some colorful rocks with liquid chalk markers this week.  A fun, simple project that even the kids would love!

I currently live in Maine.  It is unofficially the land of fun shaped rocks.  I find myself collecting them in buckets and baskets and leaving them about the RV, taking up room that we really don’t have.  There is something about them that draws me.

So when I was presented with a box of brightly colored liquid chalk markers, I decided to create some rock art.  Want to know how?

For this project I used:

Assorted flat river rocks
Stardom Crafts Liquid Chalk Markers
Black Acrylic Paint

Begin by painting all of your rocks with the black acrylic paint.  Granted, you can leave the rocks their original color, but I went with black for a great contrast with the liquid chalk markers.

This set includes 18 different bright colors, and I wanted to try each and every one of them!  Liquid Chalk Markers can be used on any non-porous surface including chalk boards, mirrors, glass and even metal.

Oh… and rocks too!

How do they work?  Make sure to shake each liquid chalk marker with the cap on before getting started. Next open the cap and then depress the tip of the marker on to a piece of paper until the ink flows into the tip (about 1 minute).

You know it is ready to draw with when the tip of the pen turns color.

Then start drawing away!  Naturally, I went with paisley.  Seems that I have a thing for both rocks and paisley.  Well, as my husband says, it keeps me out of the bars.  Right?

Anyway… the markers worked beautifully!  They created crisp, smooth lines in beautiful vibrant colors.

Look how pretty!

Also, the tip of the marker is reversible. It can be a chisel point tip or a bullet point tip. You can remove it and flip it around for two types of print styles!

Love this!

And the creating possibilities are pretty endless.  How about a fun project for the kids on a rainy summer day?  This just might be the ticket!  These fun liquid chalk markers are water based for easy cleanup!
