Looking for ideas for fun desserts, snacks and gifts, I happened across a cool Sleigh display at Walmart featuring Planter’s holiday products.  And the wheels in my brain started turning.  I just love the Planter’s Cocoa Almonds and I’m betting they would make a wonderful Cocoa Almond Pound Cake!  Delicious and perfect for a yummy dessert!

The great thing about pound cake is that it only takes a few minutes to mix the ingredients together, and the family thinks you’ve been slaving over a hot oven all day long.  That is my kind of dessert!  And the tasty cocoa almonds are the perfect touch, making this easy to make pound cake that much more special.

The fun Planter’s Sleigh display had lots of other great options too:

  • Holiday Nut Crunch
  • Cocoa Almonds
  • Brittle Nut Medley
  • Winter Spiced Mix
  • Holiday Collection Tin

Nuts are a great idea for small gifts for family and coworkers.  Bag them up into pretty cellophane bags tied with ribbon and sit them inside a holiday mug for a great gift at the office.  The nut medleys make a nice display in pretty bowls for your next get together.  And the Holiday Collection Tin makes a beautiful gift!

Grease and flour a tube pan so that your cake will not stick.  Pour your batter into the pan… and bake at 300 degree oven for about an hour and a half.

Once the cake is cool, melt some melting chocolate in the microwave, and drizzle it over the top.  This cake makes a pretty centerpiece at the holiday table, and folks will think you slaved for hours!  (Be sure to add a touch of flour to your nose to keep up appearances!)

Oh, and another cool thing about the Planter’s packaging is that you can use a cool app called Blippar to actually engage with Mr. Peanut himself!  Blippar is a free app that has image recognition capabilities and gives you the opportunity to interact with Planter’s brand.  After downloading and opening the free Blippar app in your Apple, Android, Blackberry or Windows device, you simply scan the packaging on your Planter’s seasonal nut item. (Learn how to download at: https://blippar.com/en/ – download).

As you can see, Ralph had to have a selfie made with Mr. Peanut.  Because he could!  Ha!  I loved the fun recipe and gift ideas included in the app and the Loyalty Programs is easy to use.  You can find more details about Blippar in this video.
