Our Featured Guest Star- Mommas Kindacrafty

Today our special guest star is Joy from Mommas Kindacrafty. Joy offers quite a few great sewing and crafting ideas on her website for those of us that are sewing wannabes. It is a great pleasure to have her here with me today.  She is sharing the Green Room with my bud Tom Selleck who promised me that he would be on his best behavior today.

You see, last week Tom left my Green Room unlocked and by the time I discovered it, the room was taken over by a Hollywood crowd that had apparently swung by on their way home from the latest movie premier. They had the disco ball spinning and the freaky lights going and Paris Hilton was up on the stage belting out some version of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” while Tom Cruise stood on my brand new couch, dancing to the beat.

I had to enlist the help of Dog the Bounty Hunter to get everything under control. And let me tell you, that dude doesn’t come cheap! I had to give him exclusive rights to my Green Room for his next toga party. Which will hopefully not be anytime soon because I would hate to have one of my craft guests visit and have to share a room with a bunch of bounty hunters in sheets.

And Tom was absolutely no help. In fact, he still owes me three party-pack bags of M&M’s because it appears that Lindsey Lohan ate all the green ones. At least he did go ahead and dry-clean my new couch. Mr. Cruise needs to learn to take off his shoes before he climbs on the good furniture. Anyway, enough of my problems. Let me introduce you to Joy!

Suzy: So Joy, tell me a little bit about yourself.
Joy: I am very lucky to be a stay at home mom to four children. Three boys, ages (10, 7 1/2, 2) and one girl, age 5. I love to create all kinds of things! And usually have several projects in the works.

Suzy: When and why did you start blogging, and where would you like your blogging to lead?
Joy: I started blogging in February of this year. It seemed like the ‘thing’ to do. I wanted a place to store all the wonderful inspiration I was finding on other blogs and be able to share my projects with my family and friends who lived far away from me. I blog for fun, so as long as it is fun for me, I am happy. It also makes me smile to read comments and see my followers grow.

Travel Pillows for all the kiddos!  Tutorial is here.

Suzy: Who or what inspires you?
Joy: My children, my husband, friends. I want to be my best for them.

Bandana Skirt!

Suzy: Name a few of your favorite websites that you go to for inspiration.
Joy: Wow! I have such a list, I don’t know where to start. I think the first one I really got into was Ucreate. Make It and Love It, Homemade by Jill, and Tatertots and Jello were early favorites as well. I also love A girl and a Glue Gun, Sugar Bee-Craft Edition, The Girl Creative, and Craftaholics Anonymous. I could go on and on here….but that’s a start!
Suzy: Wow.  You and I hang out in the same neighborhoods!

Fancy Tutu Bow Holder! Tutorial is here.

Suzy: What are your favorite things to create?
Joy: Usually its something for my daughter.

Suzy: And I see you have a talent for cooking amazing things too! Now that is something that I’ve never quite gotten the hang of. Just so you know, banana bread is so not one of my specialties. Yours looks wonderful. Check out Joy’s blog for the amazing recipe.

Suzy: And chocolate waffles! My heart be still! I love me some chocolate and waffles are pretty darn good too. A combination made in heaven. You do know I’m currently on a diet, so I will not be going to your site to see how these were made. ….I’m really not going over there, you know. This salad is just scrumptious. What do I need chocolate for? Generally, I should just bypass the eating part and tape it to my hips. Because that is where it will end up anyway. Crunch..crunch…

Well, crap. The recipe is right here.

Fancy Diaper Cakes!

Suzy: Yes, you seem to have quite a handle on that sewing thing. Your projects are wonderfully creative! Is there another type of craft that you have never tried and would like to learn in the future?
Joy: I am not much of a painter. I would love to be better at decorating and fixing things up around the house.

Suzy: You have so many successful craft projects. Is there one that just never seemed to come together? I know I have several “errors in judgement” hanging around my closet. Do you have a crafty horror story?
Joy: Not really. I am too much of a perfectionist. If it doesn’t turn out, it gets trashed or else I keep at it till its perfect!

Suzy: Tell me about your workspace. Where do you do all that wonderful crafting?
Joy: Right now I don’t really have a ‘space.’ We have just moved and are renting temporarily. I have a craft table set up in the formal dining room (its not used for dining-we eat in the breakfast nook area). My sewing machine is there. And I use a kitchen counter a lot too. But most of my supplies are in tubs in a closet downstairs. I get lots of exercise running up and down looking for things! (I will have a gorgeous room that is ALL MINE once we build our home!)

Suzy:  Be sure to stop by Mommas Kindacrafty and check out her linky party, “Make it Fantabulous!!” It is open Friday-Saturday every week. And check out her daily posts. Joy loves to feature other crafters. If you happen to be a crafter and catch her eye, you might find yourself and your craft on her site.

Come on, Joy. Tom says he’ll take us out to dinner tonight to make up for the catastrophe that is currently my Green Room. Tom wants to take us to some fancy French restaurant. Which is totally fine by me as the budget at Suzy’s Artsy Craftsy Sitcom only can handle Burger King (with a coupon). And you would need to order the kiddy meal.  So a French restaurant would be a nice change.  Just don’t order the escargot. No matter what kind of fancy name they call it, or what type of fancy sauce they put it in, it is still snails. Just saying.
