Our Featured Guest Star- Create & Share

Today we have Kara and Melissa here from Create and Share.  Create and Share is a relatively new blog that concentrates on featuring you and your crafts.  They have an interesting concept that I don’t believe I’ve seen anywhere.  Each post is a linky list with a theme.  If you have something that fits the theme, then go link up!  Their linky lists never close, so it is a never ending party.

My buddy Tom Selleck, his mustache and I are very excited to have them here in our Green Room.  But as usual, we also have some unexpected guests.  No, not an Oprah Green Room overflow this time.  Even though I hear she has James Frey on set today and I’m betting the tension is a bit thick over there.  Oprah will not be disrespected.  She has people who handle these sorts of things.  One must always stay on Oprah’s good side.  Right, Steadman?

This time we are catering to Donald Trump who really needed a place to stash NeNe Leakes and Star Jones.  Apparently, he is in the midst of filming the reunion show of the latest Celebrity Apprentice and he can’t seem to keep either of them from tearing each other apart.  Since he doesn’t like getting his hair mussed, he has passed them on to me to supervise.  And since I’m the boss around here, I passed them onto my buddy Tom.  Because I have true confidence in the soothing powers of the mustache.

So there is currently a cold war going on in my Green Room with NeNe in one corner, Star in the other and an uncomfortable looking Tom in the middle.  The temperature in the room has definitely gotten chilly.

So while the stalemate is in progress, let’s take a few moments to interview Kara and Melissa!

Suzy: Tell me a little about yourself, your family, your other hobbies…

Kara– I’m a middle school reading teacher and I love being crafty and creative.  I also love DIY projects and building things.  My husband is in the Navy and our 2 year old son keeps us laughing and on our toes!
Melissa – I am also a middle school teacher.  I teach English.  My first love is baking, but I also love reality TV, arts and crafts, painting, and of course…blogs 🙂  My husband and I have an 11 year old daughter.

Suzy: When and why did you start blogging, and where would you like your blogging to lead?

Kara:  I originally started a blog to share easy and inexpensive projects I do.  Then, Melissa and I decided to start Create and Share so everyone can share their creations and be inspired together.  I would create a great (I thought it was fabulous) tutorial on my blog but then didn’t feel that a lot of people knew it was out there.  Also, I would read blog posts where I had done something similar and wanted to share my creation.  So Create and Share was created so that everyone could link up similar projects that correspond to title.  We want everyone to feel that their blog post/creation is being featured.  We really want everyone to feel as if their projects and creations are fabulous and amazing.  Create and Share is a place where everyone can show off their masterpieces or get inspiration and then come back and show off their work.

Melissa – My first attempt at blogging was actually while I was in the planning stages of my wedding.  I was one of many wedding bloggers for a popular wedding website.  I never shared any of my blog posts with any family or friends.  Afterwards as my love of reading blogs grew – I decided to create my own.  It would be amazing if blogging could one day pay the bills but for now it is just for fun.

Suzy: Your blog is a wonderful mix of crafty ideas.  Do you plan on going with a schedule or are you going to just go with the flow regarding posts?
Kara: For now we don’t have a schedule.  We are posting crafts, recipes and DIY projects we come across.  We are really looking for ideas to feature so others can link up similar projects so please email us with your fabulous crafts, recipes and projects.  We want to feature everyone!

Suzy: Since I’m kinda a crafty blog, I have to ask. Are there any particular crafts that you enjoy doing the most?  You seem to have crafty ADD like I do.

Kara – My favorite crafts are ones that are inexpensive and don’t take a lot of timeJ  I love fun crafts that I can do with my son.  I also love creating things that I can decorate with.
Melissa – I love making things with canvas and creating digital things.  I created my own wedding invitations.

Suzy:  I know you have a very busy life.  I also know first- hand how time-consuming a good blog is.  How do you schedule it all in?
Kara– Blogging is relaxing to me.  So, it is my time in the evening after my son is in bed to unwind.
Melissa – My husband says I spend too much time online.  I often blog from my laptop on the couch while my husband watches TV shows I am not interested in.

Suzy: Since I’m also kinda a sitcom blog, my buddy Tom wants to know if you have a favorite tv program?  Other than anything starring him of course.
Kara– I love Army Wives and Desperate Housewives.  My husband and I love watching Criminal Minds and NCIS.
Melissa – I am obsessed with most reality TV shows.  My favorites are Teen Mom and all of the Real Housewives.

Suzy: The blog community is full of wonderful folks.  Can you tell me some of the blogs out there that you like to read? (They don’t have to be crafty blogs).
Kara – There are so many wonderful blogs out there it is hard to pick a few.  I love finding newer blogs that are just starting out.  They always seem to put so much effort into their tutorials and blog post.  My favorite right now is Bouffe E Bambini
Melissa – I love reading blogs.  Some of my favorites are – Eighteen25, It’s a Wonderful Life, Enjoying the Small Things, House of Smiths, and Keeping up with the Joneses.

Suzy: Can you tell us a little about what you are promoting right now?
Melissa: Create and Share is a place to share your fabulous creations and be inspired by others.  We just want to form a community where people can come to feature their masterpieces and get ideas.  Every blog post has a linky so everyone can link up similar projects they’ve done themselves.

Thank you so much for taking the time to come by!  It has been a real pleasure meeting both of you!  Please take a few moments to swing by Create and Share and see what is going on.  You might want to bookmark the site and come back when you have new projects to link to their great selection of lists.  Linking is truly a great way to get your blog out there!

And now we really need to get back in the Green Room.  Tom has called in a panic.  Seems that Star said something derogatory to NeNe and then NeNe got loud and pushed poor Tom out of the way.  She has already removed her earrings and taken off her heels, so a brawl is in the making.  That is if she can find Star who is currently hiding behind my collection of National Enquirers.  Poor thing is in full panic mode.  Since she got so tiny, she’s kinda like a Chihuahua- all bark and not much bite.

Good thing that I have access to a secret passageway to Oprah’s studio.  It’s great for all the guests on her show that need a quick escape route.  (Steadman uses it all the time).  I’ve actually been expecting James Frey to slink in any minute now.  Quick, Tom. Show Star where the trap door is before NeNe gets all her rings off.

Not that I really want to protect Star, but you know that National Enquirer collection took years to accumulate.  Just saying.
