Our Guest Star this week is from….
Oklahoma, USA

Today we are welcoming Kelly from Running with Glitter.  Kelly’s website has a great mix of bright colorful crafty ideas, recipes and fun centered around her home and children.  She does some pretty amazing stuff.  My buddy Tom Selleck, his mustache and I are just thrilled to meet her.
Knowing that she is a fan of reality television, Tom did his best to get a few top notch celebrities to come visit today.  Brad Pitt was lined up until last minute.  Seems that Angie would not give him permission.  She is still mad about the last time he came over and lost his paycheck in a game of poker with Tom and William Shatner.  I’m not really too upset about him not showing as he always has that brood of kids with him and I am still cleaning cheeto fingerprints off the walls.
As luck would have it, we still ended up with a room full of “celebrities”.  Snooki swung by on her way to the tanning bed to see what we had set up on the buffet.  (She really loves those Waffle House hashbrowns that Rastus cooks up for us).  And then of course we have Charlie Sheen.  Charlie has been hanging out here off and on for a while now.  I wouldn’t mind so much, but he never quits talking.  I’m really getting tired of listening to how many ways he is “winning”.  My definition of winning is not sitting in my recliner in a bathrobe and boxer shorts, eating leftover pizza and watching reruns of The Facts of Life.  Just saying.
So when Ashton Kutcher showed up suddenly with armloads of Two and a Half Men promotional mugs, custom koozies, and signed posters, we all stopped in our tracks, expecting a possible brawl.  Granted, he didn’t know that Charlie has virtually been living in my recliner for the past month, but it would be nice if Demi warned us before she let him have the car keys.  Isn’t he out past his curfew?
And now there is an uncomfortable silence in the room as everyone stares at Charlie and Ashton.  Ummm…come on Kelly, lets go in my office and do your interview in private where there are no distractions.  And apparently, Snooki and her plate are joining us.  And Tom and his mustache.  And Rastus.  Oh come on!  My office isn’t that big!

Suzy: Tell me a little about yourself, your family, your other hobbies…
Kelly:  I’m a mommy to two littles and a wifey to one cool CPA.  I love to create and try to include my children in my crafting as much as possible.  So you will find lots of family friendly recipes and projects over at the Glitter Blog.

Kelly:  My precious daughter, Aubrey Rose was the inspiration behind the name of the blog.  It came about one time when we were making Christmas ornaments and she suddenly got up and ran through the house with a glitter shaker…needless to say the glitter went everywhere!  I said in my mommy voice, “No running the glitter!”  It cracked us both up.  Sparkles on the floor, sparkles on the skin, sparkles of happiness in our hearts…

Suzy: When and why did you start blogging and where would you like your blogging to lead?
Kelly:  I started blogging a few years ago on my family blog.  I was posting mostly crafty stuff and decided to just start the Glitter Blog.  So now I just do a “Growing Up Corado” family post once a month or so on Running with Glitter.  Blogging is such a fun hobby!  I’d love for Running with Glitter to continue growing and possibly someday I’ll stock up a cute little Running with Glitter Etsy shop.

Suzy: Can you tell us a few things that most folks don’t know about you?
Kelly:  I’ve lost almost 90 pounds over the past one and a half years.  I struggle daily to eat right.  I LOVE CANDY if you haven’t noticed that from all my blog projects.  I work out at 10:30 at night and do most of my blogging on my iPod while I’m on the elliptical.  So if you get a reply comment from me at around 11:00 PM, I’m probably on the elliptical!

Suzy:  Can you give any new bloggers out there some pointers that you might have learned along the way?
Kelly: I think that to be a successful blogger, you have to give as much as you receive.  If you see a new blogger that is doing great, go ahead and try to help that blogger out as much as possible.  Feature others and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS link back to other people’s projects.  Last but not least, leave comments and respond to every single comment that is left for you.

Kelly: I can tell you that once I made something awesome using someone else’s tutorial.  I spent half the post on linking back to their blog and thanking them.  I sent them an email and commented under their post.  That person did not respond and my feelings were actually hurt.  Of course, I got over it, but for me it was an important lesson.  Most of us blog for fun and those comments mean the world to us.

Suzy: This crafty blog community is full of wonderful folks.  Can you tell me what blogs inspire you?
Kelly:  Beneath the Rowan Tree, Lolly Jane Boutique, Cinsarah, Free Pretty Things for You, Maybe Matilda, Lil Blue Boo, The Crafting Chicks, Creation Corner, Somewhat Simple…gosh, I could go on and on.  And I know they’re not blogs, but Etsy and Pinterest are huge inspirations!

Suzy:  Can you tell us a little about what you are promoting right now?
Kelly:  Monday is the DIY, Crafty, Recipe Link Party.  I’m really excited about Thursdays on the Glitter Blog.  Starting this week, we are doing something a little different.  I’m really trying my best to be healthier!  I’m hosting a link party for Healthy Living.  We can link up our stories, recipes, failures and motivations.  You can read more about it if you like at Running with Glitter

Kelly, thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to join us!  Please take a few moments to check out Kelly’s site, Running with Glitter.  I’m betting that you will be totally inspired to go out and create.

Now if you all don’t mind, everyone needs to move out of the office so poor Kelly can have some air.  Not that I don’t mind rubbing elbows with the celebrities, but I prefer to do it figuratively, if you know what I mean.  It’s been quiet in the Green Room for a while now, so either they both bumped each other off or they annoyed each other enough to finally leave.
Uh oh.  It appears that Charlie is still being a bad influence.  Apparently he and Ashton have used their time together to not only raid the liquor cabinet, eat all my secret stash of Reese’s peanut butter cups and make a bunch of prank phone calls to the local airport asking them to page “Seymour Butts” and “Amanda Hugandkiss”.   And now they are both in the midst of a ridiculous game board competition.
So far, Charlie has beat him in Chutes and Ladders and Tiddley Winks.  They are currently in the middle of a competitive Twister game.  Judging by miscellaneous body parts, I’m thinking Charlie is winning that game too.  Seriously.  My eyes.
