Our Guest Star this week is from….

Virginia, USA

Today we are welcoming Allison from A Glimpse Inside. Allison comes to us from the great state of Virginia.  My buddy Tom Selleck, his mustache and I are looking forward to her arrival.  Unfortunately, the Green Room isn’t all its cracked up to be this week.  Seems that Lady Gaga had a flood in her basement and asked us to store her wardrobe until she can get things handled.  It seemed like an innocent request, so we agreed.  You see, it never hurts to brown-nose the celebrities.

I’m not sure why, but it never occurred to me how extensive her “wardrobe” was.  We’ve had truckload after truckload of things that may or may not be clothing arriving all day long.  The Green Room literally looks like the discount section of the Halloween store after a clearance sale.  Piles of costume-like apparel everywhere.  A statue of liberty hat, a bigfoot head, three pairs of gigantic crab claws, a martian cape, four live zebras and a giant egg are just a few of the strange items stacked, or wandering around in my Green Room.  And the 12 cases of meat for her next cocktail dress are totally taking up my whole freezer.

And then Betty White stopped by on her way back from visiting the Georgia Aquarium.  Well, I’m certainly not impressing anyone with my awesome Green Room today, am I?  But true to her personality, Betty just moved the alligator head-dress and the scale encrusted alien go-cart off the sofa and sat down with Tom and his mustache to chat for a bit.  Seems that Tom and her go way back.  They apparently belong to the same racket club.

She is the current reigning racketball champion and Tom has been practicing all month with the sole intent of finally beating her at the game.  You see, she already outplayed him in three soccer matches, a game of touch football and she totally pinned him twice in round one of their last wrestling match.  Tom may be all smiles, but I know that his mind is on the competition.  It doesn’t help that she even beat him out of that part on Golden Girls.  What?  Oh, it is not well known, but it was supposed to be “Three Golden Girls and One Dude” originally.  You didn’t know that?  Anyway, Betty was so good in her audition that they shortened it to Golden Girls and gave Tom the “better luck next time” push out the door.  He has never gotten over it.

So while they chat, lets go into my office and interview Allison.  It’s over there to the left.  Yep, around that pile of Egyptian mummy sarcophaguses.  Or is it sarcophagi? Just duck under that dragon float.  You can get around his tail over here.  Sigh…

Suzy:  Tell me a little about yourself, your family, your other hobbies…                                                       Allison: My name is Allison and I am an Army wife. Travis and I met in college and got married a few weeks after we graduated which was 4 1/2 years ago. No kids for us just yet but we do have two fur babies, Oscar our dog and our cat, Patton.

Allison: Most of my hobbies involve crafting in some way. I love taking photos, I can get lost behind the lens. I have scrapbooked for years. I enjoy painting and drawing. I also just enjoy hanging out with my husband. That’s a hobby, right?! 🙂

Suzy: When and why did you start blogging, and where would you like your blogging to lead?
Allison:  I started my blog in November of 2009. Being a military family, I started my blog for our family and friends to keep track of us on our many moves and adventures. I slowly started sharing more and more crafts so it quickly turned into a craft blog, but you can still find updates about our lives as well.

Allison: I have really enjoyed blogging. I find it very fun and I love connecting to others but truthfully, I haven’t really thought about where I would want it to lead. As of right now, I will just continue what I’m doing and slowly grow my blog, making those connections, and doing what I enjoy.

Suzy: Can you tell us a few things that most folks don’t know about you?
Allison: Hmmm… I am really shy until I get to know you, like really! I get crazy anxiety about going to the doctor even if I just go to talk about something or it is the simplest procedure. And I am one stubborn person who will not cave to peer pressure, AT ALL! I think this is one thing that my husband would want to change about me but I love it! I will stand my ground and say no, no matter how many times I’m bugged.

Suzy:  Can you give any new bloggers out there some pointers that you might have learned along the way?
Allison:  If someone comments on your blog, try your best to reply to it. This way you develop friendships and people are more likely to come back. And on that note, PLEASE attach your email address to your profile so others can respond to and contact you! And then be yourself! Write like you are talking to your family and best friends. Let your personality shine through.

Suzy: Since I’m also kinda a sitcom blog, my buddy Tom wants to know if you have a favorite movie star.  Other than him of course.
Allison:  Oh goodness… let me think. You know, I really don’t think I have just one favorite star. But I really enjoy Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Ryan Reynolds, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Aniston, Amy Adams, and I will end there! See, I don’t have just one. 😉

Suzy: This crafty blog community is full of wonderful folks.  Can you tell me what blogs inspire you?
Allison:  There are so many! I’m sure I have the same inspirations as most of you. But here are just a few: Tatertots and JelloHouse of Smith’sUnder the Table DreamingThe Lettered Cottage, and Funky Junk Interiors just to name a few but there are SO MANY more out there that inspire me.

Suzy: Can you tell us a little about what you are promoting right now?
Allison:  I will be completely revamping my Etsy shop, Creative Details soon, so once that is under way that will be the main thing I am promoting. But I also recently hit 1000 followers on A Glimpse Inside and am in the process of planning a big giveaway celebration for the first week of August so that is what I am currently planning and promoting.

Allison, thank you so much for swinging by the Sitcom!  Please take a moment to go check out Allison’s blog, A Glimpse Inside.  So much fun and inspiration and all in one great place!

Well, we’d best hurry back out in the Green Room.  Seems that a stack of costume head-dresses including a massive replica of the planet Saturn toppled onto Tom.  Luckily for him, Betty was able to drag everything off of both him and his mustache and carry him to safety.  I don’t know what we would have done without her.  Fortunately for us, she just recently finished a weight lifting competition and is still in great form.
Tom is a bit mortified, to tell the truth.  Just between you and I, he is still a bit miffed about not being invited to the marine ball along with Mila , Justin Timberlake and Betty.  And now he has to be rescued by an 80 year old woman from under a pile of plaster of paris Saturn rings.  Not one of his better days.  Ha!

We enjoyed it, though.

Please take a moment to link up your blog to the worldwide hop!  Maybe you will be featured next week!
