Our guest this week is from Washington State, USA!

Today we are welcoming Megan from Not Martha!  I am so excited.  You know, I’ve been reading Megan’s blog for many years.  Her’s is one of the first craft blogs that I became addicted to.  Her blog has a fascinating mix of crafts, cooking, fashion, and humor.  She has a way of putting a smile on my face every time I read one of her posts.  And I nearly fell out of my seat when she agreed to be interviewed!

So I’ve asked my buddy Tom Selleck, and his mustache to help me fix up the Green Room extra special today in her honor.  After all, we finally have a real celebrity coming our way!  Unfortunately Tom immediately took offense.  I had to spend quite a bit of time convincing him that I really didn’t mean that he wasn’t a celebrity too.  It’s just that he’s not real crafty-like.  And he’s really not funny unless he’s reading a good comedy script.  You know?  But as a celebrity, yes he certainly is known well by my generation and yes, I love all his movies, and yes I know about all his acting awards, and yes, his mustache is better than even Hulk Hogan’s.  Really, it is!

And after I finally had him convinced, wouldn’t you know it, in walked Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian.  They were apparently on their way to the stadium so that Kim could pick out a new husband, when their limo broke down just outside.  Last time they were here, poor Tom got a complex because none of them had any idea who he was.  And apparently, that hasn’t changed regardless of the fact that after their last visit, Tom sent them a movie poster of himself from Three Men and a Baby and an autographed copy of the Magnum PI DVD collection.

Kim, who was busy perusing her iphone for google alerts on herself, glanced up long enough to ask him to make her drink and then hung her coat on his Emmy Award. Kourtney who apparently vaguely remembered seeing a picture of Tom holding a baby, handed him her son and told him that the diapers were in a bag in the limo.  And Khloe tossed him a set of jumper cables and told him to fix the limo when he was done changing the baby.

Ummm….let’s take Megan into my office for her interview.  It looks like Tom has it handled out here…

Suzy: So, tell me a little about yourself, your family, your other hobbies… the welfare of your clover plant…
Megan: The poor clover plant didn’t survive. I’m afraid I’m too incompetent to keep even simple plants alive. Sorry, hi, my name is Megan and I live in Seattle. I grew up in Ohio and went to college to study costume design. I started working making websites after college.

Suzy: Your blog has been around for quite a while.  In fact you are one of my crafty idols.  Can you tell us how it came to be?
Megan: We moved to San Francisco into a very small apartment and I didn’t want to keep notes on paper about the craft projects I’d been making. Since I had been building websites keeping a weblog for the instructions made a lot of sense. And I never stopped. At the time I started I was unhappy with the lack of clear directions given for soapmaking and craft items online so I decided to add as much detail as I thought people could stand.

Suzy:  What direction do you want to take your blog in the future?
Megan: No clue. Um, wish I had a better answer for you there. I’m attempting to dress and apply makeup like a grownup more these days, I will probably talk about that once I’ve figured it out a little bit better.

Suzy: Can you tell us a few things that most folks don’t know about you?
Megan: I find four leaf clovers really easily. To preserve them I press them in the pages of books and of course I forget about them. So when you open a book in my house it’s likely four leaf clovers will fall from the pages. I like to go on bike rides, especially if there is a stop for beer and lunch halfway. And I play a lot of video games, online, on a console and my iPhone.

Suzy: You deal with a ton of different crafty styles.  What particular crafts are your favorite and which ones would you love to try?
Megan: It really depends. I pick my DIYs based on whatever is catching my attention at the time and there is often an aspect of learning something new involved. I’m not sure why but I shy away from glue guns. Actually, it’s probably because I am adept at burning myself. I think I’d like to try something with pottery soon. I keep going back to knitting, there is always a new technique to learn that will create something really cool so that remains a favorite.

Suzy:  This crafty blog community is full of wonderful folks.  What blogs inspire you?
Megan: The Hairpin– Snarky, helpful, funny and touching. These are my people.  Oh Happy Day!– I love the simple festive crafts and the peek into Jordan’s life in Paris. I cannot wait to see what they do next.  Manhattan Nest– Daniel documents fixing up his apartments and the amount of work and style he puts into it is inspiring.  Lucy Knisley- Lucy has such an amazing way of communicating through her comics. Luxirare– A peek into high fashion and amazing food. This is so different from what usually captures my attention and I love how she presents things.   9 Eyes– By Jon Rafman. A collection of interesting images captured by Google Street View cameras.

Thank you so much for allowing me to interview you!  It has been a true honor.  Please take a few moments to swing by Megan’s site, Not Martha, and see what she has going on.  I guarantee you that you will go back again and again.  Her sense of humor and style are just wonderful.

Well, we’d best get back to the Green Room and rescue Tom.  It seems that while we were gone, he single handedly fixed the limo and even changed the baby. The Kardashians seem to be gone and on their way.  Wow.  I’m impressed! Way to take the high road, Tom!  I’m so glad you didn’t let them bother you!  You know we all know who the true celebrity is here and we definitely never take you for granted.  Both you and your mustache should be congratulated for being so tolerant.  I am proud of you.

So lets take Megan to the study and show her my craft room and National Enquirer collection, shall we?

What?  We can’t go in there?

Really?  Open the door Tom.

Sigh.

Tom, please take the gags off the Kardashian sisters, untie them and turn off the Magnum PI marathon on the big screen TV.  Seriously.
