My mother is a huge fan of Little House on the Prairie. In fact, we joke that all her televisions are set to have it playing 24 hours a day. So, I know she in particular would appreciate this artistic rendition of 17 characters from the show. Rafael of My Tiny Studio, created this special order for a customer through his Etsy store. Created from wooden pegs ranging in size from 1 1/4″ to 2 1/2″ tall, and painted with meticulous detail in acrylic paint. Rafael creates the most amazing tiny people. You can see more of his work at his blog, My Tiny Studio, or his Etsy shop.
Dogs in Cars is the photographic brainchild of London based Martin Usborne. Martin spent two years compiling these melancholy photographs of dogs in cars and is now in the process of putting together a fine art book. The dogs themselves were posed for the photos, so no worries about sad doggies abandoned on the street. But the images are just fabulous. I am looking forward to getting a copy of this book when it comes out! Check out the video where Martin explains his motivation behind this series.
Have you ever knit entrelac? Or knitted socks? Both can be a bit difficult to master. But Tatyana from Moscow Russia decided to combine the two! And what amazing results! A challenge? You bet! But I’m thinking it might totally be worth the effort! You can find the pattern here.
Sergei Bobkov, an artist from Kozhany, Russia, creates amazingly detailed sculptures from Siberian Cedar wood chips. He has developed his own technique that keeps them from falling apart in time. Sergei’s sculptures take hours and hours, averaging at least six months of 10-12 hour days to complete just one. For that reason, he has only completed 11 sculptures so far, but each are simply amazing to look at. Check out Oddity Central for more photos of works from this talented artist!
And finally, a little humor to send you off with. Because frankly, it’s pretty true for me. Just add a pair of Nike tennis shoes to that pup and there I am! Courtesy of I Waste So Much Time. com.
