Feature Friday- Down By the Sea Quilt

This is a quilt that I made for my sister several years ago that I call, “Down by the Sea”. It consists of a bunch of different quilt patterns put together including the ocean wave block, several different boat blocks and a compass design. I had a ton of fun piecing this quilt using my most vibrant fabrics.

The finished wall hanging is approximately 42” x 42” and is hand quilted.

Why am I telling you all this? Well because I’m very excited that my “Down by the Sea” quilt will be displayed in the Georgia Quilt Show on October 20, 21, and 22 at the Gwinnet Center in Duluth, GA. It is a contest, so I have a mild chance of winning something, but I am most excited about having it displayed. Can you tell this was my first entry in a show? Ha!

So if you happen to be in the Atlanta area, try to stop by and check out the Georgia Quilt Show. You’ll want to plan for shopping time in the Exhibit Hall, too – browse through the newest fabric collections, try the latest tools and notions and discover a world of inspiration. You will be able to meet experts, designers, manufacturers, dyers and see the latest and greatest in quilting ideas.

Right now, my quilt is touring Virginia and then Missouri and then it is arriving here. I hope it is enjoying its travels. And I hope it doesn’t get all hoity-toity and big-headed or anything, because it will be going back on my sister’s wall when it gets home. Where it can ponder it’s brief 15 minutes of fame and retire back into obscurity.

But pretty cool, huh?
