Our Featured Guest Star- Punkin Seed Productions

Today, we are fortunate to have Kristi from Punkin Seed Productions stop by. Kristi lives in the Northwestern part of the US and I’m sure it was a long flight. Heck, they don’t even give you a meal anymore. And last time I flew, I asked for a Diet Coke and they made me split the can with the fellow across the aisle. Totally not kidding. Anyway, we figured that Kristi might be a bit jetlagged, so Tom Selleck and I made sure to fix up the Green Room really nice for her.

Tom and his mustache arranged a little get together with his buddies who had just recently been voted off Dancing with the Stars; David Hasselhoff and Michael Bolton. Don’t know about the rest of you, but I would have preferred Maksim Chmerkovskiy over both of them, but that is just me. Unfortunately, David Hasselhoff has spent the last couple hours on the phone with his agent trying to work out a guest star appearance on the Jersey Shore and hasn’t said one word to any of us.  He told his agent that he’s a shoe in for a part.  He can do drunk, he can do disorderly, he can even learn to talk with a Jersey accent.  He just needs to work on his spray tan.  Yep, I’m thinking he just might be a good fit.

As for Michael Bolton, well he’s still moping in the corner. Seems he is pretty darn bitter over being voted off. Bruno had best watch his back. I’m thinking that he really ought to be mad at his dance instructor who made him crawl out of a dog house at the beginning of the “dance”. You know, everyone is good at something. Some folks can dance. Some folks can sing. Some folks are great at working an eighties haircut. And Mr. Bolton can rock an awesome mullet. Really he can.

Tom, can you please get Mr. Bolton a tissue?

So, I figure I’d better rescue Kristi before he launches into “When a Man Loves a Woman” and Hasselhoff decides to join in. Poor thing just got off a long flight. And probably had to share her coke…

Suzy: So, Kristi, tell me a little about yourself.

Kristi: I am homeschool mom to three great kiddos. In my former life, I was a farm girl who grew up in a family of 7 children (I’m #7) and married my sweet heart city guy. I worked in the business world in administration and personnel and owned a bed and breakfast. Then the kiddos came and my husband and I decided that we should raise them….so goes the professional career… and onto the homeschooling adventure!

Suzy: A secret dream of mine has been to own a bed and breakfast. Unfortunately, the breakfast part requires cooking- so there went that dream…Anyway- when and why did you start blogging, and where would you like your blogging to lead?
Kristi: I started blogging a few years back with my sisters as a way to keep in touch with them. One of my sisters encouraged me to start a crafting blog and business…..so I took the leap and started Punkin Seed Productions. I am definitely a schizophrenic crafter…..love all of it….and I can’t decide on one area!

Suzy: Who or what inspires you?
Kristi: Wow, what a question. First and foremost, my family, husband and kids inspire me to become who God created me to be. My artsy fartsy side definitely comes from my mom. She always was trying something new, teaching herself in different art mediums. She definitely was not afraid to try something new.

Suzy: Name a few of your favorite websites that you go to for inspiration.
Kristi: I love Funky Junk Interiors….I love turning junk into a treasure and this lady is the master.

Suzy: What are your favorite things to create?
Kristi: As I said before, I’m pretty schizophrenic (with crafting that is), I love all forms of art. My most recent favorite thing is turning old junk like wooden wnidow screens, wine crates and kitchen scales into works of art.

Suzy: Is there a type of craft that you have never tried and would like to learn in the future?
Kristi: Yes! I would love to learn how to fuse glass!

Suzy: Wow. That is definitely a challenging craft. You have so many successful craft projects. Is there one that just never seemed to come together? I know I have several “errors in judgement” hanging around my closet. Do you have a crafty horror story?

Kristi: Well I try to forget my horror stories! I do know that there is a point in a lot of my creations where I just want to throw them away, especially when I am painting. I’ve learned to push through that because the next coat of paint, the next few details will make a world of difference!

Kristi: The one horror story I can think of is when I stayed up most of the night to make a fondant cake for a friend’s daughter’s birthday. It was one of those topsy turvy cakes….well it was a little too topsy turvey. When I got up the next morning…….the cake had tipped over…..the day of the birthday! Yikes…thanks for dredging up that memory (NOT)! =0)
Suzy: Oh, I’ve been there. I made my sister’s wedding cake. I neglected to read up on the basics of support for a multi-teared cake. They had to take quick photos of it before it toppled. In fact, I think if you look closely at some of her wedding photos, you can see my arm holding up the stupid thing. Sigh…

Suzy: Anyway, let’s talk about your crafting space. I think it tells alot about a person. Mine is a jumbled pile of disarray to the average beholder, but I know where everything is and what I’m eventually going to do with it. Tell me about your workspace. Can you supply a photo?
Kristi: I absolutely CANNOT supply a photo….my crafting space is in the deep dark dungeon of the house….and only I am allowed!!! LOL! However, I create everywhere I go! I’m always thinking about ways to create….jotting down notes, etc. Since I like to turn old junk into something fun, I also have a big collection of JUNK in our garage waiting to be transformed (my husband cringes).

Suzy: Please take a moment to stop by Kristi’s blog, Punkinseed Productions. Amongst all the great crafty projects that she posts on her site, she offers a “Plant a Punkin Seed Party” every Thursday- a linky list for all of your crafty stuff. It is a great place to go for inspiration. Also, Kristi’s Etsy site, Punkin Seed Productions is a great place to find Christmas giftys. Kristi’s talent with paint and wood is amazing. She accepts custom orders and her word blocks have so many great possibilities.

Come on, Kristi.  Tom and his mustache wants to take us out on the town.  Apparently, David Hasselhoff and Michael Bolton are working on a plan to take over the Dancing with the Stars stage and wash Bruno’s mouth out with soap.  Tom doesn’t want to get in the middle of that.  Seems he doesn’t want to ruin his chances of being invited on the show.  Both he and his mustache have been taking clogging lessons at the YMCA.  And he learned how to do the Macarena.  Bruno would be impressed…
