This week our Guest is from North Carolina, USA!

Today we are welcoming Tricia from Sweeter Than Sweets.  Tricia comes to us from the great state of North Carolina.  You know, Pepsi and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts originated in North Carolina.  The first successful flight was in Kitty Hawk, NC.  But most importantly according to my buddy Rastus, our Waffle House cook, North Carolina is a leading producer of chewing “tobaccee”.

Anyway, my buddy Tom Selleck, his mustache and I have set up the Green Room in preparation for Tricia’s arrival.  We are however, going to have to work around the film crew Dancing with the Stars.  Seems that their dressing rooms were temporarily off limits this week due to the fact that they had to have them tented for termites.  Yep, all those wood floors are just a snack waiting to happen for a bunch of dance-happy termites.

Tom and I have had to put name plaques on all the doors because each “star” wants to feel special.  Even if we really aren’t sure who they are.  Luckily, we were given a cheat sheet to go by.  Chaz Bono was easy enough to do and so was Nancy Grace.  But “Metta World Peace” doesn’t fit on the door panel.  So our friend Ron Artest will have to be known as just “Metta” around here. Or MWP or maybe just “hey you with the weird name” if we get tired of the formality.  We are kinda laid back here at the Sitcom.

And speaking of obscure celebrities, we also have Rob Kardashian and Elisabetta Canalis. Two “stars” who are famous for either being related to a reality tv persona or for just dating George Clooney.

Oh, excuse me, I just got a text from Mr. Clooney…Ummm…that’s Elisabetta who was dating George Clooney, not Mr. Kardashian.  George just wanted me to be clear on that.

So, now that Tricia is here, let’s go into my office where it is quiet and away from the crowd…

Suzy: Tell me a little about yourself, your family, your other hobbies…

Tricia: I’ve been married to my college sweetheart (affectionately called “my Sweets” on Sweeter Than Sweets ) for almost 10 years and I am a stay-at-home-mom to our beautiful, talkative 2 1/2 year old daughter, a.k.a. “Little Sweets”.

Suzy:When and why did you start blogging, and where would you like your blogging to lead?

Tricia: I started blogging at the beginning of this year as a creative outlet and to help promote Sweeter Than Sweets, my Etsy shop.  In the future, I’d love to find ways to incorporate my degrees in Psychology (I graduated with my Master’s degree 2 weeks before Little Sweets was born) with crafts and teaching tools for kids. In fact, I’ve just published my first example of this: Emotional Animals, a game for kids ages 2-6 to learn about their emotions.

Suzy: Can you tell us a few things that most folks don’t know about you?
Tricia: I have a serious problem with fish out of water. I guess it’s a phobia, but I cannot stand the flopping of a live fish out of water or the smell/look of fish on someone’s plate. I don’t eat seafood, though yes, I’ve tried it and I actually do like the taste of it. It’s the idea of it that gets me. Strangely, though, I love to snorkel.

Suzy: Can you give any new bloggers out there some pointers that you might have learned along the way?

Tricia: Take advantage of the resources that are already out there. I’ve learned a lot from tutorials on blogging that have helped get my blog to where it is today. There is always more to learn and ways that I want to improve my blog. Just google what you want to learn and you’ll find plenty of instructions on how to do it. Or if you figure something out for yourself, post the directions on your blog for others to learn from. I’ve done that with my posts on how to get featured on high-profile blogs, how to create a gallery of images on your blog,  and how to use Google Analytics

Suzy: Since I’m also kinda a sitcom blog, my buddy Tom wants to know if you have a favorite movie star.  Other than him of course.
Tricia: I don’t have any one favorite star. But I love to read Us Weekly when I’m running on the treadmill to see what all the stars are up to. It’s the best turn-off-my-brain distraction from what I’m actually doing (running).

Suzy: This crafty blog community is full of wonderful folks.  Can you tell me what blogs inspire you?
Tricia:  The first crafty blog I was ever addicted to was OnePrettyThing, which provides a roundup of other crafty blog posts. I regularly participate in linky parties and see so many amazing blogs out there that I couldn’t pick just a few. And don’t get me started on Pinterest!

Suzy: Can you tell us a little about what you are promoting right now?
Tricia:  I am always promoting my Etsy Shop, where you can find “sweet somethings for the little ones in your life, and some for the mamas, too!” I sell boutique burp cloths, hooded kids’ towels, headbands, hair pins, hair clips and clothing. Soon I’ll be branching out to shoe clips, too!

Suzy: Tricia, thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!  Please take a moment to check out Tricia’s site, Sweeter than Sweets.  You will find lots of great advice there on blogging, traveling with toddlers, learning games and great photography and fun.  I’m betting you love the visit!

Well, we’d best get back.  Tom tells me the Green Room is crawling with Kardashians and Rastus is having difficulty keeping hashbrowns on the buffet table.  Which has been made all the more difficult because Rastus has been avoiding Nancy Grace and her helmet hair all day. (He is still working on putting that incident that landed him in the local jail for two days behind him. You know, the one with the two Falcon cheerleaders, the bucket of lard and the hoola-hoop?).  No?  Well, never mind.

As for me, I plan on approaching Len Goodman and asking for a spot on the next show.  I may not have dated George Clooney, but I have his old cell phone number and his cease and desist letter right here! I once accidently tripped over Brad Pitt’s foot at a celebrity event as his security guards forced me to the ground.  And I am most likely related as a cousin-in-law, twice removed to Oprah’s other secret sister.  That mirrorball trophy would look just awesome as a paperweight for my National Enquirer collection.
I am officially requesting Maksim Chmerkovskiy as my dance partner due to his fabulousness.  Sorry Tom. You all can line up for my autograph over there.
