Our Featured Guest Star- Not Just a Housewife

Today we welcome Stacy from Not Just a Housewife. I had my buddy, Tom Selleck and his mustache set up a nice buffet in the Green Room for her. Since the budget at Suzy’s Artsy Craftsy Sitcom is a bit slim, we went with fried chicken, mashed potatoes and corn and other such southern comforts along with a large batch of sweet tea. Tom was very proud of the setup as it rivaled the Golden Corral in selection. It was just like going to the “trough”, only with no sneeze shield. We run a quality blog here. Just saying.

And then, wouldn’t you know it, but Padma Lakshmi and Tom Colicchio from Top Chef wandered in to check it out. Seems that they were both guests on the Today Show and Kathy Lee and Hoda had already gone through the liquor cabinet before they had arrived. They were apparently looking for something to keep thirsts quenched until the start of the fourth hour and had been sent my way. Hate to tell them, but the closest thing you will get to liquor in my Green Room at the moment might be the sausage and saurkraut that has been in the fridge a bit too long.

And then they started picking apart the offerings in the buffet. Padma didn’t see the connection between the ingredients. Tom said the flavors were good and he liked the mac and cheese, but the greens were too fussy. Padma liked how it challenged her pallet, but felt that the chicken was overly salted and lacked the proper textural elements and suggested that next time we might consider a chocolate goat cheese ganache with cara cara orange gel for a bit of variety.

Tom just stood there with his mouth open. Here we go again. Last week Madonna totally messed with him, this week he gets picked on by the Top Chef Judges. Poor Tom. Both he and his mustache are gonna need therapy.

Come on Tom, let’s leave the judges to enjoy the buffet and let’s go interview Stacy, shall we?

Suzy: So, tell me a little about yourself, your family, your other hobbies…
Stacy: I have four little boys that I am lucky enough to stay at home with. Most days I love it. I met my hubby in college. We have been married for 10 1/2 years. We live in a small town, in a cute small “cottage” with a giant yard with chickens and ducks.
Suzy: My mom has chickens, which we are not allowed to eat.  Once you name them, they are family.  Ha!  So, when and why did you start blogging, and where would you like your blogging to lead?
Stacy: I started blogging in September of this year. My husband was laid off this summer and I had wanted to blog but never had the time. Him being home suddenly gave me the opportunity. I would love to keep a nice even pace with blogging. I don’t ever want to get overwhelmed and then not like it anymore. I am happy with how things have been so far.
Suzy: Can you tell us a few things that most folks don’t know about you?
Stacy: I am a tom boy. I HATE shopping. I am not very fashionable. I could use a lot of help in that area! I am a tee shirt and jeans kinda girl and I love to get dirty.

Suzy: You blog is a wonderful mix of crafty things, parental and home-making tips, and awesome advice. Can you tell me what inspires your posts?

Stacy: I only ever post about things that I would do anyway. I don’t do or make anything just so I can have something to blog about. I have probably the LONGEST “to do” list in the world that I have been working on since I got married. The only difference now is that I take pictures. I have no worries about running out of things to blog about. I don’t think my list will ever be done 🙂 What can I say, I am a busy body who can’t stay still.
Suzy: Since I’m kinda a crafty blog, I have to ask. Are there any particular crafts that you enjoy the most?
Stacy: My favorite crafts involve power tools! I love to build things. I love the smell of wood, stain, and paint.
Suzy: I know you have a very busy life. I also know first hand how time-consuming a good blog is. How do you schedule it all in?
Stacy: Like I said before, my hubby was laid off this summer so it allowed me to get things rollin’ with my blog. Before I started I didn’t know what an HTML code was! He was Mr. Mom in the mornings so I could work. Now that he is back to work (thank goodness!) I check email and my blogs in the morning for a minute and maybe peek at nap time, but most of the time I post and do everything at night when the kids are in bed. So far it hasn’t required too much time. My family doesn’t feel neglected so it must be ok!
Suzy: Since I’m also kinda a sitcom blog, my buddy Tom wants to know if you’ve ever met a celebrity in real life. Other than him of course.
Stacy: I have never met a celeb before and to be honest I don’t really care to. (Sorry Tom) But I do have a celebrity crush. Mathew Fox, or Foxy as I affectionately call him. I even made my hubby shave his head to look like Foxy from his early LOST days. Bad idea. My husband has a pointy head. Who knew???
Suzy: Tom, I found a number in the phone book for a local therapist…really.
Suzy: This crafty blog community is full of wonderful folks. Can you tell me what blogs inspire you?
Stacy: The very first “mommy” “craft” blog that I ever saw was The Idea Room. That was the blog that got me thinking that I would like to have my own. I have since met Amy and she is the NICEST person ever.
Suzy: Can you tell us a little about what you are promoting right now? Etsy? Linky lists?
Stacy: I host a linky party on Tuesdays and then I do a feature post the next day showcasing some of the link ups. I also have another blog. The Birthday Blog @ http://www.creativebirthdaypartyideas.blogspot.com/.
Stacy: And I just barely started up an etsy store called The Not JUST A Housewife Shop @ www.etsy.com/shop/notjustahousewife.

Suzy:  Please take a moment to swing by Stacy’s site, Not Just a Housewife.  There is always something great going on.  Her Show Me What Ya Got! link party on Tuesdays is always a blast and she has a never ending selection of crafty ideas, gardening tips and recipes throughout the week.

Well, it looks like Padma and Tom brought in some of their show contestants and are holding a “Quick Fire Challenge” in my Green Room. Rules are the contestants need to come up with something ridiculously fancy using only the ingredients found in my refrigerator. I’m not sure what the winner gets, but I get a cleaned out fridge. Sounds good to me.

Looks like Stacy, Tom and I will be on the judges panel. Hmmm…

Stacy- just FYI, if you see any sausage or saurkraut in the dish- don’t eat it. Just saying.

And remember, if you and your blog would like to join the party, please email me at myers6281(at)hotmail.com.  I am always looking for new guest stars.  And just think of all the awe in your friends and family’s eyes when you tell them you were actually on a sitcom!  Well, maybe a sitcom in my mind, but lets not get too literal.
