Our guest this week is from Utah, USA!

Today we are welcoming Megan from the Brassy Apple!  Megan is an amazing designer and crafter.  Her clothing designs and patterns are incredibly popular, and her website is a pleasure to read.  Tom Selleck, his mustache, and I are very excited to have her here.

There is much going on in our Green Room today as I have allowed Phil Keoghan and his crew from the Amazing Race to film here. They needed a place to set up a challenge as the racers head through the South on their way to the finish line and my Green Room just happened to fit the bill.

Ya know, Phil is just as famous for his raised eyebrow as Tom is for his mustache. Which actually has caused quite an issue around here as Tom and Phil seem to be in some silent competition. I don’t really see why Tom is so intimidated. Tom’s mustache has so much clout around here that it even has it’s own dressing room. And fan club. And possible zip code (if the paperwork goes through).

The Amazing Race challenge is to drive down I-285 on four wheelers, eat an entire plate of Waffle House’s hashbrowns, smothered, covered, topped, scattered and chunked, served by a waitress named Jilly Bean who has a total of two teeth and a rebel flag tattoo on her arm, while two hillbillies in overalls play “Dueling Banjos” in the background. Tom feels that Phil and his team did all their research on the South based on the movies “Deliverance” and “My Cousin Vinnie”. I kind of agree, and was going to tell him so, but ya know, Phil’s eyebrow made my knees weak and I forgot what I was saying…

Sigh..

Suzy: So, Megan, tell me a little about yourself, your family, your other hobbies…
Megan: I am a lefty. multi-tasker. Mom of 4 in my home but 5 in my heart. Living adventure this year. 6 ft tall. love to wear high heels. amateur photographer. addicted to fresh salsa. former dancer. married 14 years. enjoy pilates. A fan of Amazing Race, Survivor, Greys Anatomy and Project Runway. Refashioner. Volunteer. Child of God. An Idaho Spud transplanted to Utah. Busy body. Always on the go. Love to create.

Suzy: I love that you show many different styles of crafting on your blog.  And your tutorials are great!  When did you start blogging, and where would you like your blogging to take you?
Megan: I love the blogging world as a means of getting information out there. It’s wonderful to have a place where each individual can express their own point of view, design ideas and share what they are passionate about. I have been blogging for a couple of years and what I share and my content is constantly changing. I love that it’s evolving and so are my interests and passions. I would love to share my ideas in even more ways and media in the future!

Suzy: Can you tell us a few things that most folks don’t know about you?
Megan: If you want to know some quirky fun things then I have double jointed elbows, I love edge-y short hair cuts and once I went completely BLONDE! I’m not afraid to start the “wave” in a room full of people cracklin’ oat bran is my FAVORITE cereal but I don’t buy it nearly enough.

Suzy: Can you give any new bloggers out there a few helpful hints?
Megan: Find your niche! Do what you love and love what you do. Find a way to stand out among the crowd by putting our own spin on things. There is a lot of the “same” out there. Find something that makes YOU different and run with it! and enjoy the ride too!

Suzy: Tell me about your “I Am” blog.  The concept is refreshing and I’m a big fan of photography theme challenges.  Do you plan on starting a new concept in that direction?
Megan: The “I AM” blog was a great photography project I embraced last year. The concept was to share a single photo from women all the over the world based on a monthly theme that I set. To share, connect and tell a story through that snapshot. We are all more than just the labels society puts on us or we put on ourselves. The “I AM ” blog was a place to do that. At times my inbox was overflowing with emails and other months I felt like I was begging people to submit! 🙂 It has been put on hold for now but I still love the idea of sharing stories and moments…

Suzy: Can you tell us a little about what you are promoting right now?
Megan: I love to showcase other projects as much as I love to share my own! I have a weekly linky party called Make it Monday that goes live on Sunday evening at 6 pm (mst). It’s your chance to share a tutorial, design idea, makeover, recipe, etc. It’s a great place to find projects to PIN too! Also during the month of February I am running a DIY accessory series! Guest bloggers from all over will show you have to create something new from necklaces, to earrings, bracelets and more!

Suzy: Be sure to go check out Megan’s site, Brassy Apple.  There are tons of wonderful patterns there along with amazing photos, crafti-ness,  and lots of fun reading.  It’s a great place to visit!

Excuse me a moment, Megan…

Hello?

Oh, just great. I’ll be right there.

Come on Megan. We have to go break up a fight. It appears that Phil said something derogatory about Jilly Bean’s tube top. Ya know, in the south, we try to be polite and I have to say that her tube top covers most of her girth and is much nicer than the stained white T-shirts that everyone seems to be wearing on Cops.

Of course, Tom and his mustache took offense.  He’s been wanting to pick a fight ever since Phil’s eyebrow walked in.  Seems he found out that not only does Phil get unlimited access to my Green Room and free Waffle House Biscuits and Gravy for life, but Phil’s eyebrow has it’s own hairdresser. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Poor Phil doesn’t stand a chance…
