A great option to reduce your cell phone bill!

A few weeks ago, I told you a little bit about our plans to sell the house, everything we own, and become permanent travelers.  We are in the process now of getting our home ready for sale.  In fact, our new kitchen counters are going in as we speak!  I will be writing a post next week detailing how to choose the right countertops and what to look out for when choosing a vendor.

This week, I want to talk about phone service.  Our cell phones will pretty much be the only utility bill we will have while on the road.  Quality cell phone coverage is incredibly important to us as we will need it to communicate to the family, be available in cases of emergency, and of course, I definitely need access to the internet when wifi is not available.  But it is also important to us to pare down the bills we have to acceptable levels.  And that is where Virgin Mobile comes in.

I had the pleasure of being invited to the Sprint Corporate Headquarters here in Atlanta to talk with Sprint representatives about the Virgin Mobile Custom cell phone.  Virgin Mobile Custom’s purpose is to allow users to build a mobile plan that fits their needs.  There are no contracts, and you have the ability to build, share, control and manage your mobile plan to suit you!

First, let me mention that this is a prepaid phone.  I was pleasantly surprised to see a very high quality phone!  But more importantly, these days prepaid phones are a great option because you can control your spending.

The Virgin Mobile Custom plan is available on three devices: ZTE Emblem™ , LG Pulse™ , or LG Unify™.  All sold exclusively at select Walmart stores.

Features on these three Android™-powered smartphones include a large touchscreen display, 5-megapixel rear-facing cameras, front-facing cameras for video calls, Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi.

Features to consider:

• The price of a basic line is only $6.98 a month!
• You have full control of how little or how much you add to that plan.
• You can make adjustments to your plan at anytime!
• Have children?  The plan allows you to share five lines however you like and have full control of what they have access to and when they have access to it!

Over all, I was duly impressed.  This plan is perfect for my daughter as she will be here in the Atlanta area and is in dire need of a phone that she can afford.  I mean, I certainly cannot miss out on the family drama, can I?

As for my husband and I, we will be traveling to remote locations so this may not be the best plan for us.  A bit more research is needed on that end.
