Beautiful Art and Craft Projects from Inspired Sitcom Readers

Nothing makes me happier than to be able to inspire beautiful creations.  Often, readers send me photos of their completed craft projects.  I wanted to share a few of them with you.

Faux Stained Glass Peacock

I decided to try a practice one first on a picture frame that I had that used plastic instead of glass in the frame.  The plastic offered some challenges – harder to clean up the wobbled lines without scratching the plastic, the glue with some of the paints seems to get more mottled than other (though that may have been the glue – I used clear tacky glue – seems to dry fast).  Over all, I do love it and others in my DIY do, too!  Thanks again for your wonderful ideas! ~Pamela Pare

Pamela’s project was created with my Majestic Peacock Pattern!

 Also from Pamela Pare-

Attached is a picture of the finished faux stained glass roseate spoonbill project.  I found it much easier to do on glass instead of plastic and I also discovered to NOT use clear fabric glue (very bad!).  I also learned that bigger is better if there are several small sections, or I need to combine several of the small sections into one bigger one.  When redoing the outline it is too easy to accidentally fill-in the small sections with the marker.  I do love the way it came out though.  The possibilities are endless as there are many examples of stained glass projects out there that can easily be adapted.

Thanks again for getting me started on this!!

Awesome job, Pamela!

From the website, Not Big on Dignity, “I searched for an image I really liked and hand-drew it on a big piece of cardboard. Turns out the image was much too complicated and I simplified it heaps when I piped on the black”.

Absolutely beautiful!

I was contacted by the artist, Janis Cox, regarding my tutorial for Batik with Crayons.

Janis said, “That was a very interesting tutorial. I do watercolour batik on batik rice paper and really like working with it. You can find some of my paintings here : Janis Cox Gallery  I would love to try this on fabric”.

Janis does beautiful batik watercolour paintings.  Be sure to visit her gallery and let her inspire you!

Luc from Mexico~

I decided to give you a “preview” of what I have been up to as as far as handicrafts are concerned.  Some cake stands I made for my wife’s future business of cupcake making, out of a plastic pie dish from Pasteleria Lety , locally one of the most famous pastry shops (and my wife’s name happens to be Lety as well) and a plastic yogurt bucket filled with sand for stability. All of it hand painted by me.

A lamp made out of clothes pins , wooden sticks and hand painted butterflies.

Luc says, “The first steps of what is to become a “mosaic lamp”. I painted shards of glass I found tossed in a nearby arroyo, cut them to pieces, and will apply them to a wine bottle from which I will cut the bottom. With a candle inside that should make a nice effect, I think”.

I can’t wait to see it, Luc!

I have some very talented readers, don’t I?
