Chaos Crochet Challenge- Round 1
Welcome to the Chaos Challenge Crochet Along—where the spinning wheel is in charge and anything can happen!
What is a Chaos Blanket? Instead of carefully planning every row, we’ll let chance choose the yarn color, crochet stitch, and number of rows. No overthinking, no second-guessing—just spin the wheel and see where it takes us!

Round One
So exciting! I began round one with a spin of the wheel to choose which of the 50 stitches that I would begin with. You can download the free Crochet Stitch list HERE. Chaos Crochet Stitches. I used the Free Spinning Wheel Random Number Generator that I found here to choose which stitch.
The spinning wheel chose number 28. So I will be beginning my Chaos blanket with the Floret Stitch! The Floret Stitch is a one color stitch, so I closed my eyes and chose a color from my bowl of yarn colors…
It is now decided! Round one will be in Antique Teal, the stitch will be the Floret Stitch and I rolled dice for the number of rows and it will be 6! Let’s get started!
Floret Stitch
I am using a crochet hook size H (size 8 or 5mm) and beginning with a chain of 200. This resulted in the length of approximately 60″. This will be the width of my blanket. (You can make your blanket any size, so be sure to choose what works for you).
- Foundation Row: Chain 200 plus 3. Work 1 double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook, then work 1 double crochet in each chain across. Turn your work.
- Row 1: Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch). Work a slip stitch into the first stitch, then alternate with a double crochet in the next stitch and a slip stitch in the following stitch across the row. End with a slip stitch. Turn your work.
- Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as your first double crochet) and turn. Skip the first stitch at the base of the chain, then work 1 double crochet into each stitch across the row (including the slip stitches from the previous row). Turn your work.
- Repeat: Repeat rows 1 and 2. I completed a total of 6 rows for round one.
Want a printed version?
The Floret Stitch was easy to do, requiring very little counting and it fit perfectly on my chain of 200. I love the texture of this simple stitch and would definitely consider it for future projects! My six rows are complete and I am ready to begin Round 2!
