Chaos Crochet Challenge- Lemon Peel Stitch

Welcome to the Chaos Challenge Crochet Along—where the spinning wheel is in charge and anything can happen!

What is a Chaos Blanket? Instead of carefully planning every row, we’ll let chance choose the yarn color, crochet stitch, and number of rows. No overthinking, no second-guessing—just spin the wheel and see where it takes us!

I’m creating my own Chaos Blanket using a special set of rules, and you’re invited to join the fun. Grab your yarn and crochet hook—it’s time to embrace the chaos and create something completely unique!

Round Seven

I began round one with a spin of the wheel to choose which of the 50 stitches would be used for round seven.Ā  You can download the free Crochet Stitch list HERE. Chaos Crochet Stitches. I used the Free Spinning Wheel Random Number Generator that I found here to choose which stitch.

The spinning wheel chose number 19.Ā  The stitch I will be using for this round is called the Lemon Peel Stitch! I closed my eyes and chose the colors from my bowl of yarn colors…It is now decided!Ā  Round seven will be in Cherry Blossom, the stitch will be the Lemon Peel Stitch and I rolled dice for the number of rows and it will be 4 rows!Ā  Let’s get started!

Adjustment Row

Before we begin round seven, we need to make an adjustment row from the previous round.Ā  I used the Cherry Blossom yarn to create a row of single crochets.Ā  Also be sure to count your stitches during this row to be sure that you still have your original amount of stitches.

Lemon Peel Stitch

The Lemon Peel Stitch is a simple stitch created with sc and dc.Ā  It gives a great texture and goes together quickly.Ā  We are trying to keep the edges as even as we can and sometimes it helps to raise or lower the size of your hook depending upon the stitch. In this instance, I kept my hook size at a lower size (G) in order to help with the bulkiness from round 6.Ā  Keep in mind that everyone’s tension is different, so play with it and see what works best for you!

Step-by-Step Instructions for the Lemon Peel Stitch
If you prefer video, I was able to find this one:
Row 1: Chain 1. *Work 1 sc into the 2nd chain from hook.Ā  Work 1 dc into the next chain. Repeat from *across, ending with a dc. Chain 1 and turn.
Row 2: *Work a sc into the very first stitch (over the dc in the row below).Ā  Work a dc into the next stitch (over the sc in the row below).Ā  Repeat from *across.
Rows 3-4: Repeat row 2.

(Adjustment Row) We will make an adjustment row in the next round using the color of the next round.Ā  (Stay tuned)!

Lemon Peel Stitch

I enjoyed creating the Lemon Peel Stitch.Ā  While it is not necessarily my favorite so far, (I loved the Picot and Large V Stitch), it does work up quickly and has a great texture.

Be sure to come back on Thursday, October 15 for Round 8!
