Chaos Crochet Challenge- Peephole Chevron Stitch

Welcome to the Chaos Challenge Crochet Along—where the spinning wheel is in charge and anything can happen!

What is a Chaos Blanket? Instead of carefully planning every row, we’ll let chance choose the yarn color, crochet stitch, and number of rows. No overthinking, no second-guessing—just spin the wheel and see where it takes us!

I’m creating my own Chaos Blanket using a special set of rules, and you’re invited to join the fun. Grab your yarn and crochet hook—it’s time to embrace the chaos and create something completely unique!

Round Five

I began round one with a spin of the wheel to choose which of the 50 stitches would be used for round five.  You can download the free Crochet Stitch list HERE. Chaos Crochet Stitches. I used the Free Spinning Wheel Random Number Generator that I found here to choose which stitch.

The spinning wheel chose number 22.  The stitch I will be using for this round is called the Peephole Chevron Stitch! I closed my eyes and chose a color from my bowl of yarn colors…It is now decided!  Round five will be in Cherry Blossom, the stitch will be the Peephole Chevron Stitch and I rolled dice for the number of rows and it will be 4 rows!  Let’s get started!

Peephole Chevron Stitch

The Peephole Chevron Stitch creates a beautiful chevron pattern which is a fun change for the chaos blanket.  The double crochet is the star of this stitch and it works up quickly.  We are getting a bit lacy now, so if you need to go a crochet hook size lower depending upon your tension, then do that.  We are trying to keep the edges as even as we can and sometimes it helps to raise or lower the size of your hook depending upon the stitch.

Step-by-Step Instructions for the Peephole Chevron Stitch
If you prefer video, I found this video from Hooked by Robin.
Row 1: Chain 2.  Work 1 dc in the 3rd chain from hook.  Work 1 dc in each of the next 3 chains.  *Skip 2 chains.  Work 1 dc in each of the next 4 chains. Chain 2, then work 1 dc in each of the next 4 chains. Repeat from * across.  At the final 6 chains of the row, skip 2 chains, work 1 dc in each of next 3 chains and then 2 dc into the very last one. Chain 3 and turn.
Row 2: Work 1 dc into 4th chain from hook and then into next 2 stitches.  *Skip 2 stitches at the valley and then work 1 dc into the next 3 stitches.  In the chain 2 space from the previous row, work 1 dc, chain 2, 1 dc.  Work 1 dec into each of the next 3 stitches.  Repeat from *across.
Rows 3-4: Repeat Row 2
(Adjustment Row) Because this stitch creates a chevron look, we will make an adjustment row in the next round using the color of the next round.  (Stay tuned)!

Peephole Chevron Stitch Crochet

I enjoyed creating the Peephole Chevron Stitch.  It worked up quickly and would be a great stitch on its own for a blanket.  Once I learned the stitch, I didn’t have to spend a lot of time counting.  (Note: we will be making an adjustment row at the beginning of Round 6 in a new color in order to keep this chevron look intact).

Be sure to come back on Thursday, October 8 for Round 6!
