Feature Friday- Floral Ornaments

My Christmas Ornament club meets this weekend and I have been working like crazy over the past several weeks to complete my ornaments. Our club has been meeting now for the past 20 years.  It consists of crafty friends and relatives, approximately 15-18 of us every year who make ornaments and exchange them right before Christmas.  Every year, I get 15-18 new handmade ornaments for my tree.  Multiply that by twenty years, and suffice it to say, I have a ton of hand-made ornaments.  
But I’m a firm believer that there is no such thing as too many ornaments.
Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I always choose something extremely time-consuming and difficult and struggle to get it completed every year. But I do work best in a time crunch and I guess if I wasn’t totally stressed each year, well it just wouldn’t be the holiday season. 

This year my project isn’t entirely original.  I was perusing Etsy when I ran across this fabulous shop, Gwydion’s Garden. I loved her floral ornaments and decided to do something in that realm.  In order to make them “my own”, I used a larger 4″ glass ornament, and added fine glitter to make the flowers glow.  And then got out my acrylic paints and got busy.

I am an artist, crafter and humor writer living in Atlanta, GA. I attended the Atlanta College of Art, and have a background in fine arts, graphic design, and photography. I like to specialize in vintage and recycled crafts such as quilling, Ukrainian Egg Dying, batik and quilting.

  2. Hi Conni! The group is tons of fun. We’ve been doing it twenty years now and quite a few of the members are from the original group. Some of them start their next year’s ornaments in January!
