What is a Chaos Blanket? Instead of carefully planning every row, we’ll let chance choose the yarn color, crochet stitch, and number of rows. No overthinking, no second-guessing—just spin the wheel and see where it takes us!

Round Three
I began round one with a spin of the wheel to choose which of the 50 stitches would be used for round two. You can download the free Crochet Stitch list HERE. Chaos Crochet Stitches. I used the Free Spinning Wheel Random Number Generator that I found here to choose which stitch.
The spinning wheel chose number 11. The stitch I will be using for this round is called the Pike Stitch! I closed my eyes and chose a color from my bowl of yarn colors…It is now decided! Round three will be in Ivory, the stitch will be the Pike Stitch and I rolled dice for the number of rows and it will be 8! Let’s get started!
Pike Stitch
The Pike stitch is a lovely textured stitch that is very simple to create. Note that in Round 2, I had previously created an even base row of single crochets in Gray Confetti to give Round 3 a great start.
- Insert the hook into the stitch
- Yarn over and pull the yarn through the stitch. You will now have 2 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through only the first loop on your hook. You will still have 2 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over again and pull through both remaining loops.
Row 1: Chain 1. Starting with the 5th chain from the hook, *1 extended single crochet (ESC), chain 1, skip 1 chain, repeat from * across. End in last stitch with 1 ESC. Chain 3 and turn.
Row 2: Beginning in the 2nd ESC, work 1 ESC. *Chain 1, skip 1 chain, 1 ESC in the next ESC. Repeat from * across the row working your last ESC in the space made by the turning chain. Chain 3 and turn.
Rows 3-8: Repeat Row 2
(Adjustment Row) Take the opportunity before going into Round 4 to count your stitches. If you need to make an adjustment of stitches, use your ivory in single crochet to make the adjustment.

The Pike Stitch was very enjoyable. Once I learned the stitch, I didn’t have to spend a lot of time counting. The stitch has a great texture and was a nice break after all the details of round 2! (Note: be sure to do a count to be sure that you still have 200 stitches before beginning Round 4).
