Chaos Crochet Challenge- Round 2

Round Two
I began round one with a spin of the wheel to choose which of the 50 stitches would be used for round two. You can download the free Crochet Stitch list HERE. Chaos Crochet Stitches. I used the Free Spinning Wheel Random Number Generator that I found here to choose which stitch.
The spinning wheel chose number 49. The stitch I will be using for this round is called the Box Stitch! The Box Stitch is a two color stitch, so I closed my eyes and chose two colors from my bowl of yarn colors…It is now decided! Round two will be in Terra Cotta and Gray Confetti, the stitch will be the Box Stitch and I rolled dice for the number of rows and it will be 7! Let’s get started!
Box Stitch
The Box stitch is richly textured crochet stitch that results in a thick layer of boxes and lace. It looks great in one color or several colors. I limited myself to 7 rows due to the fact that the seventh row is more of a flatter row. I then counted my stitches and made a few adjustments by adding one more row of single crochet in Gray Confetti so that I would have a good base row for Round 3.
- Row 1: With Gray Confetti, sc in the second chain from your hook, *skip the next 4 chains, [5 dc, chain 1, 5 dc] in the next chain, skip the next four chains, sc in the next stitch; Repeat from * across. Chain 1, turn.
- Row 2: Sc in the first stitch, *Do a Front Post sc in each of the next 5 dc, chain 1, front post sc in each of the next 5 dc, front post sc in the next sc; Repeat from * across to the final sc, sc in the final sc, switch to Terra Cotta in the final stitch. Chain 4 (counts as a dc, chain 1) turn. (The video is very helpful for this row).
- Row 3: With Terra Cotta, dc in the first stitch, *chain 3, skip the next 5 stitches, sc in the next ch-1 space, chain 3, skip the next 5 stitches, [dc, ch 2, dc] in the next stitch; Repeat from * across to the final sc, [dc, ch-1, dc] in the final sc. Chain 1, turn.
- Row 4: Sc in the first stitch, chain 1, skip the next ch-1 space, sc in the sc, *chain 3, skip the next ch-3 space, sc in the next sc, chain 3, sk the next ch-3 space, sc in the next dc, chain 2, skip the next ch-2 space, sc in the next dc; Repeat from * across to the final 3 stitches, sc in the next dc, chain 1, skip the next chain stitch, sc in the third chain of the starting ch-4. Chain 4 (counts as a dc, ch1), turn.
- Row 5: 5 dc in the first stitch, skip the ch-3 space, *sc in the next ch-1 space 4 rows below, skip the next ch-3, [5 dc, ch 1, 5dc] in the next ch-2 space 2 rows below; Repeat from * across to the final ch-1 space, 5 dc in the next ch-1 space, chain 1, dc in the final sc. Chain 1, turn.
- Row 6: Sc in the first stitch, chain 1. *Front Post sc in each of the next 11 stitches, chain 1; Repeat from * across to the starting ch-4, chain 1, sc in the third chain of the starting ch-4, switch back to Gray Confetti in the final stitch, chain 1, turn.
- Row 7: With Gray Confetti, sc in the first stitch, *chain 3, skip the next ch-1 space and 5 stitches, [dc, chain 2, dc] in the next stitch, chain 3, skip the next 5 stitches, sc in the next ch-1 space; Repeat from * across ending with the final sc in the top of the sc stitch. Chain 1, turn.
- Row 8: (Adjustment Row) Take the opportunity before going into Round 3 to count your stitches. The details of the Box Stitch create extra stitches on round 7. I did one row of single crochet in the Gray Confetti, decreasing 10 stitches evenly across as I went in order to get my original stitch count of 200.

The Box Stitch was a bit more difficult for me to master. There was a lot of counting involved and it creates a thicker, 3D type of pattern. Lots of great texture! I think I would have gotten more out of the pattern with more rows, but ending at seven rows created a straighter edge to begin the next round with. (In order to begin round three with a nice straight edge, I added one more row of single crochets in Gray Confetti. I also did a count to be sure that I still have 200 chains and it turned out that I needed to decrease a few stitches along the row).
